Essentials Meet Experience, João Guedes
Born and raised by the ocean, João Guedes was destined to live between waves. His father, a passionate surfer, made sure João grew up surrounded by boards, salt water, and that unique sense of freedom that only the sea can give. It didn’t take long for him to realize that the ocean wasn’t just a place to play, it was where he belonged.
Over the years, João has built an impressive career that reflects both his talent and his dedication. Former national surf champion, big-wave rider, jet ski pilot, and rescue instructor, he’s constantly testing his limits, both physically and mentally. Whether he’s riding massive swells in Nazaré or training the next generation of surfers, João embodies the true spirit of a waterman: humble, resilient, and deeply connected to the sea.
At Migra Surf, we started collaborating with João about a year ago, and from the very first day, his approach to performance, innovation, and design resonated perfectly with our philosophy. We share the same obsession: to improve constantly.
For João, testing a product isn’t just about performance, it’s about understanding how design can support movement, comfort, and endurance in real conditions. His feedback is always sharp, grounded, and full of insight. He brings both the sensitivity of an athlete and the precision of a technician, helping us shape products that perform under pressure.
Every conversation with João is an opportunity to learn something new, about the sea, about resilience, about focus. Working with him is a reminder that innovation doesn’t come from chasing trends, but from listening to experience, refining details, and staying true to purpose.
For João, surfing isn’t just a sport.
For us, design isn’t just form.
Together, we explore that thin line where passion meets performance and that’s exactly where the best ideas are born.
