1.700 Miles South

A group of friends from Boston and New York City embarked on a surf trip to "the rock" before summer, seeking waves. While winter typically brings the largest swells, they still experienced several strong days. On smaller wave days, they found opportunities to hike to waterfalls, explore the local food scene, and connect with interesting people. Rincon offers a vibrant atmosphere, and when the surf is on, it transforms into a great destination.

Generally, a small beach they discovered offered a reprieve from the crowds. Even on a few occasions when the lineup was full, there were still enough waves for everyone, making it their preferred surf spot. Reaching the break required driving about a mile down a dirt road, which added to the adventure. The landscape is awesome, and encountering sea turtles in the lineup is a great experience.

Their most significant surf days were the last ones. From a filmmaking perspective, swimming out with camera equipment there was a considerable challenge, and they encountered several waves overhead. The break's name comes from its proximity to an old nuclear facility. Tres Palmas is renowned for its large winter waves, but it did not break once during their visit, though there were many reefs to explore for diving.

El Sueño

We're thrilled to present El Sueño, our debut short film.
It tells the vibrant and compelling story of Federico Nesti: surfer, dreamer, and free spirit.

Federico was born in Italy, far from the big waves, yet with the sea already in his heart. He grew up overlooking the Mediterranean, where every ripple on the water fueled a desire that soon became an urgent need: to chase the ocean, to feel the raw power of nature beneath his feet, in search of perfect barrels.

That dream led him far. At one point, he decided to leave everything behind: stability, comfort, the familiar. He flew to Mexico, a land of fiery sands, endless skies, and a wild sea.

Here, he met Maya and discovered the true essence of surfing. Here, between the coasts of Puerto Escondido and the unforgiving waves of the Pacific, Federico found himself.

This isn't just a surf story. It's a story of choice, courage, and freedom. It's the tale of a man who dared to answer the ocean's call, even when everything seemed to say otherwise.

Federico lives each day with a board under his arm and a light in his eyes. And every wave he rides brings him a step closer to the dream he continues to chase — the one he has transformed into his life.

Starring: Federico Nesti

Director: Rodrigo Santiago

We're also proud to announce that El Sueño has been officially selected by Portuguese Surf Film Festival and also Skate and Surf Film Festival. Join us in Ericeira and Milan for the preview on June and July!

Chasing the dream: Nico & Federico

Off to Central America: A Passionate Pursuit of a World Championship Dream

There's a special magic in journeys that begin at dawn. When the world is still hushed, you're wide awake, board tucked under your arm, your heart a drumbeat of anticipation. Nicolás García Andrade from Spain and Federico Nesti from Italy understand this perfectly. Their flight to Central America isn't merely a destination; it's the genesis of an adventure infused with the ocean's allure, pure adrenaline, and a tapestry of shared aspirations.

Nico, with Asturias roots, has longboarding flowing through his veins. Federico, hailing from Tuscany, honed his surfing skills amidst the Mediterranean's waves. Their paths crossed a few years back at a European competition, forging a connection over post-session beers and epic rides. Their bond has endured, fueled by a passion that transcends the waves: the artistry of style, the precision of technique, and that unparalleled sense of freedom only a board can bestow.

Two backpacks, four longboards, and a scattering of jokes to lighten the mood fill the slow-passing hours. In the quiet hum of terminals and waiting lounges, the first memories of this voyage begin to form. Amidst a shared playlist and tales of past contests, the flight itself feels fleeting.

El Salvador greets them with the briny embrace of the ocean and the vibrant spirit of a continent where longboarding isn't just a sport, but a way of life. The competition awaits, not with a knot of nerves, but with deep respect, unwavering determination, and a camaraderie that makes every challenge feel surmountable.

As evening descends, under a canopy of stars, laughter rings out around a crackling fire. They muse about future dreams, recount the spills of their early days, and share a beer that tastes of triumph, even if the top spot went to another.

Nico and Federico are first and foremost friends, then competitors – fellow travellers on a path where the real prize isn't the cup, but the extraordinary journey they've navigated together.

We're really proud to be supporting Nico and Federico, helping them participate in the World Championship!

Baltic Sea Exploration

Erwan Simon is more than just a good friend and a MIGRA ambassador, he stands out as one of the world's most dedicated surfer explorers. His passion lies in seeking out and uncovering new breaks in remote and unexpected corners of the globe.

This drive led him, in the heart of winter, to embark on a solo adventure to the Baltic Sea, fueled by his insatiable love for surfing and exploration. As a seasoned traveler, Erwan is constantly on the lookout for unique and lesser-known surf spots worldwide.
This time, the allure of the Baltic Sea, with its promise of a decent swell forecast, proved irresistible: he boarded a plane to Stockholm, eager to discover what this icy region held in store.

Upon arrival, Erwan was met by an unprecedented cold wave that had gripped Sweden. Temperatures had plummeted to record lows, with the northern regions experiencing a bone-chilling -43.6 degrees Celsius. Although his destination lay to the south, the cold remained intense, and the landscape was enveloped in a thick blanket of pristine snow. Undeterred, he rented a car and set off on a nighttime journey, navigating snow-covered roads that seemed to stretch endlessly into the darkness.

After several hours of careful driving, Erwan finally reached the coast. His initial disappointment was palpable as he surveyed the first spot he had marked on the map the day before. The waves were tiny, barely surfable. However, true to form, he didn't give up easily and continued his exploration, driving along the coast in search of more promising conditions.

Eventually, he stumbled upon an interesting spot. The wind wasn't ideal, but the waves were rideable, and he was eager to get into the water. Erwan quickly put on his best wetsuit, complete with gloves, booties, and a hood, determined to brave the icy waters. However, in his excitement, he had forgotten to zip up his wetsuit. As he entered the water, a liter of freezing seawater rushed in, sending a jolt through his system. It was a stark reminder of the unforgiving nature of the Baltic Sea, but also a moment he can now look back on with a laugh.

Over the following days, his perseverance and passion were rewarded with some quality waves. The exploration continued, and Erwan discovered a good beach break where he enjoyed several surf sessions. The waves ranged from 50 cm to 1.5 meters, and the conditions were often glassy, providing a beautiful backdrop. Driving further, he also found a point break, but the wind wasn't always cooperative. Nevertheless, he enjoyed a nice left-hand break, often having the waves entirely to himself. This solitude was both humbling and exhilarating, a reminder of the vast and untamed beauty of nature.

The landscapes were truly breathtaking, with snow-covered coastlines and stunning sunsets that painted the sky in vibrant hues of orange and pink. Although the waves weren't the best he had ever surfed, the experience of discovering new spots and immersing himself in the raw beauty of the Baltic Sea was unforgettable. It was a powerful reminder of his deep love for travel and exploration: the thrill of the unknown and the joy of discovery.

This journey to the Baltic Sea was a rich blend of adventure, natural beauty, and cultural discovery. It underscored the importance of stepping outside one's comfort zone and embracing the unknown. Whether braving the icy waters, exploring snow-covered landscapes, or immersing himself in the local culture, each experience offered valuable lessons in resilience, adaptability, and the pure joy of discovery. As Erwan reflects on this adventure, he is filled with gratitude for the opportunity to explore such a unique and beautiful part of the world.

The Dark in the Lens

A Journey Through Waves, Stars, and Silence

Imagine surfing under a canopy of stars, right beneath the Orion constellation…

This evocative phrase resonates like a mantra, the opening line of a cosmic voyage. It's the inspiration behind The Dark in the Lens, an experience that transcends mere surfing, offering a profound perception, a sensory immersion into nature and its mysteries. A full night dedicated to listening to the forces that surround us, and perhaps, those that reside within.

The idea takes shape as the sun slowly retreats below the horizon.

One by one, the pieces of our small, portable light come together. The atmosphere thickens, becoming almost sacred. We are full excited in advance. The world transforms. It's as if everything synchronizes with another rhythm, slower, deeper.

11:40 PM.

We slip into our wetsuits. Words become unnecessary. We approach the lineup, and the moon's glow reveals the arrival of the first sets. Our beacon ignites, cutting through the darkness with respect, not violating the night but carving a passage for us. It's here that the true journey begins.

In the water, every sound is transformed. Silence is never truly silent. There's the breath of the ocean, the beating of our anticipation. The wetsuit adheres to our skin, but it's the soul that dives in first. The moon watches from above, still and ancient.
The stars are reflected in the sea. The waves, in the darkness, seem to carry liquid galaxies.

… and then it happens: we enter another space. Where time bends. Where surfing is no longer a sport, but a form of listening. Each wave is a curve of the universe, a threshold, a possibility. The weight of the day dissolves in the foam. Our minds empty. What remains are our bodies, our breaths, the sea.

The Dark in the Lens is more than just an aesthetic vision: it's a nocturnal ritual, an inner practice, a declaration of love for the mysterious. It's surfing as an act of meditation, of connection. It's the darkness that ignites the light within. It's about losing oneself. And finding oneself, always, in the infinite curve of a wave.

Designed for two

The question that obsessed us while creating our latest collection:
How many boards do you want to always carry with you?

We thought long and hard about this topic because we wanted to create a bag that would be perfect for both two boards and just one.
This led to the idea of differentiating the anti-shock thicknesses: 15 millimeters in the perimeter area to best protect rockers, nose, and tail, and 10 millimeters in the central area.

Thanks to this construction, the bags for two boards work perfectly with both one and two boards.

But that's not all: we've added a removable mat, a real wild card! Use it as a divider for your boards or transform it into a comfortable mat for yoga and stretching during your travels.

And for a touch of sustainability, all our bags are made with recycled fabrics, obtained from plastic bottles. An eco-friendly product, designed for those who love the planet as much as the waves!

We believe so strongly in the quality of our bags that we offer a 10-year warranty on each one.
Check all collection here and feel free to keep in touch us us for any question.

Northern Paths

Imagine waking up at dawn, enveloped in a thick, damp fog, with the distant sound of waves crashing against the shore.

You've arrived in a remote corner of Northern Europe, in a place where the wind is icy and the air is crisp.

It's certainly not the most common destination for surfers, but there's something magical about this wild and unforgiving landscape that captivates you.

The destination is a northern coastline that seems straight out of a fairy tale, with its jagged mountains rising directly from the sea and timeless fishing villages.

Here, surfing takes on a beauty all its own, far from the traditional tropical spots, yet equally intense and rewarding. The sky is grey, and the sea is a deep, almost spectral green, with small crests breaking against the black rock cliffs.

At the end of the day, you retreat to a small wooden cabin with a spectacular view of the ocean, where you can warm up with a good coffee and watch the sky slowly transform into a rainbow of colors at sunset

Traveling with surf equipment, especially to distant and cold places like Northern Europe, can be a real logistical challenge, but it's also one of the most exciting parts of the trip.

If you decide to bring your own gear, one of the best options is to opt for the coffin bag 7.0, where you can fit up to 4 boards and they'll be well protected during your several flights.

151 Flights Stress Test

We love to put our products through rigorous stress tests, pushing them to their limits to understand their capabilities and identify areas for improvement.

Two years ago, we initiated a program with a select group of friends: the idea was to use a single 7.0 coffin bag for all their travels, regardless of destination. This bag was passed from one friend to the next, journeying across the globe.

Here the process:
The 7.0 coffin bag, which has completed an incredible 151 flights, has been loaded with up to 35 kg and has experienced a true odyssey around the world, traveling to some of the most famous and remote waves across continents. It has been used by surfers who have tested it in various conditions, seeking to understand the potential of the materials and the durability of the bag itself. It has seen its journey through the most desolate and spectacular places on the planet, from isolated beaches to hard-to-reach surf spots, where nature and adventure reign supreme.

The idea of a bag that can withstand 151 flights and harsh travel conditions tells a story of sturdiness, reliability, and passion for surfing and good stuff, just like the journey itself. The "tests" carried out by surfers in these remote locations have been an extreme trial to see how a bag can withstand the wear and tear of travel and daily use.

The 7.0 is not just an object, but a witness to experiences, adventures, and, above all, how materials and design can meet the challenges of global surfing.

If this Coffin could talk, it would have incredible stories to share: encounters with epic waves, sudden storms, and undoubtedly, moments of pure magic among friends bonded by their passion for surfing.

Conclusion:
Based on these findings, we've made improvements, such as reinforcing certain stitching points and repositioning the Teflon feet to optimize sliding. We've also conducted a brainstorming session to develop new accessories that will be released soon.

Sardinia on 35 mm

Sardinia is a marvelous crossroads of cultures in the heart of the Mediterranean.
An island with a rich history, located in the heart of the Mediterranean, has always been a crossroads of peoples and cultures. Its ancient history is witnessed by the numerous archaeological sites present throughout the territory, from the prehistoric Nuraghi to the Roman and medieval ruins.

Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans, Vandals, Byzantines, and Aragonese: these are just a few of the peoples who have dominated the island over the centuries, each leaving its indelible mark.

A blue Eden, a pearl with rugged coastlines battered by stormy winds that offer perfect waves, with incredible scenery immersed in wild and unspoiled nature. In addition to its splendid beaches, Sardinia boasts an inland area rich in breathtaking landscapes: majestic mountains, dense cork forests, and a splendid uncontaminated Mediterranean scrub that merges with the waves.

The island is a true paradise, the essence of a surfing trip, where the encounter between man and the force of the sea intertwines with the uncertainty and balance of the elements. The wind pushes the boat against the pier and the cold that envelops the night creates an atmosphere of tension and anticipation, a prelude to the adventure in search of "perfect waves", a metaphor for the search for something ideal and unattainable.

The cold and solitude of the night, the difficulties and moments of introspection meet in this magical place along the way.
Because perfection does not exist, an elusive and illusory concept that, like a mirage in the desert, seems close to us, but the more we try to reach it, the further it recedes.

Sardinia, with its wild coasts and pristine waves, could represent this ideal destination, a place to find harmony with nature and with oneself. A metaphor for life itself, where man faces obstacles and challenges, where one adapts to variables and pursues a goal, just like those who ride the waves.

The Mark Iomal collection

We're proud to announce the launch of two new colors in our collaboration with Mark Iomal!

Mark, a freelance artist and passionate surfer, travels around Europe with his vintage caravan, his wife, and their adorable black cat.

As close friends, we've been fortunate to spend a lot of time together. We've had countless chats at the bar counter and, of course, shared some epic surf sessions.

We were constantly discussing our shared passions: surfing culture and the creative world.
During one of these encounters, Mark pulled out a small sketch and said: "This is my vision of MIGRA SURF, what do you think?"

Functional, eco-friendly, and designed by surfers? Perfect match!

We immediately loved his design!

We named it "Everywhere You Want to Go" a happy, functional eco-mobile with everything you need, a minimalist must-have for ocean lovers who share Mark's vision.

Now, we're excited to introduce two new bright colors: peach and ochre.
Made from 100% organic ring-spun combed cotton, each t-shirt is hand-printed in Italy with water-based inks.

Jegary Travel Set

We are really happy to introduce one of our favorite human beings: Nicoló Cunico aka Jegary!

With a strong background in design and visual art we connected with Jegary from the beginning of our brand.
He has a wonderful skill to discover new trends, focus the target and last but not the least it is an uncatchable frequent flyer for uncountable airlines.

He was the first surfer who tested the 7.0 coffin in a wide range flight and 23 hours trip. Including a transfert  with the coffin carried on roof, belt broken and bag fell down smashing on the ground during the way....fortunately, he found it, checked it and thanks to our 22 mm closed cell foam, the boards inside were all saved.

We like his approach to go deep and deep in everything he does but most of all we love to spend time together, chat about surfing, travel and discuss about improving product details and smart problems solution.

Test program: Ale Ponzanelli

Let's introduce the first surfer who officially joined our product tester program: Alessandro Ponzanelli.

Alessandro, known as Ale, started surfing when he was 12 in the seaside area of Tuscany (Italy). He immediately fell in love with the gliding style of longboards. Ale loves discovering new spots, and he was the perfect fit to start this program.

He tested the 7.0 coffin, the 9.6 double bag and a new prototype that is currently in the design process.

We always strive to push the boundaries and test the limits of our products. That's why we asked Ale to treat the bags roughly and try to find any points that could be improved. He spent a few weeks using the products, surfing, and traveling with them. The feedback was positive; all the gear resisted stress tests and held up well.

An important suggestion from Alessandro is to consider longer bags, especially for extensive trips. Longboards and larger gear require dedicated attention during travel. While our current collection covers longboards up to 9.6, we will definitely consider creating something even bigger! Thank you for the suggestion, Ale!

The testing process was carefully recorded by Gianmaria.

The entire MIGRA SURF team wants to thank both of them for the passion and dedication you have put into this special development program.

The Road to the big

Eugenio Barcelloni has become a habitué in Nazaré, it's not the first time he takes on the daunting task of riding the massive waves of the small Portuguese town.

For him, surfing is much more than a sport: it's an art form, a deep connection with the aquatic element. Since his youth, he has spent endless hours capturing waves along the Italian coasts, but he felt the call of greater challenges, of more powerful waves that only places like Nazaré can offer.

That's why, even this year, after carefully examining the forecasts, he decided to load up his van, attach the jet ski, and head towards Portugal.

More than 2500 kilometers through highways, ferries, and bivouacs along the way, driven by a unique passion that only the dependency on waves and strong emotions can give you.

What we admire about Eugenio is his willingness to push the limits, both with the waves and with the equipment.
It's a pleasure to share his experience and receive feedback to improve the durability and details of our travel bags.

TSA lock is a plus

The TSA lock was born in response to the growing security needs at airports, particularly in the United States. It was introduced by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), a U.S. government agency established after the September 11, 2001 attacks. This specialized lock was designed to address the issue of luggage damage during security checks. It features a unique mechanism that allows security agents to open and close the lock with a universal key provided exclusively to TSA agents. This enables them to access the contents of the suitcase during security checks without damaging the lock or luggage, significantly enhancing the experience and security for every passenger.

TSA locks, integrated with our coffin 7.0 bags, become an essential element for surfing enthusiasts embarking on journeys to remote and unexplored waves. When the passion for surfing combines with the quest for pristine destinations, the need to protect equipment becomes crucial. The reliability and security offered by TSA locks thus become a guarantee of peace of mind for adventurous surfers.

The durability of TSA locks seamlessly aligns with the innovative and high-quality approach of MIGRA SURF bags, creating an ideal combination for travel experiences in remote waves. These bags not only ensure optimal protection during airport checks but also offer an elegant and functional design, meeting the needs of those seeking a blend of style and security

Navigating towards exotic destinations demands reliable and secure equipment, and the collaboration between TSA locks and MIGRA SURF perfectly addresses this requirement. Surfers can fully focus on their adventure, confident in the security of their gear. Furthermore, the durability and practicality of our surf bags, integrated with TSA locks, contribute to making the journey a worry-free experience, allowing surfers to fully immerse themselves in the excitement of remote waves around the world.

Lost and found with Filippo Maffei

In October 2022, Filippo embarked on a trip to the Maldives for a photo shoot with a marine biologist researcher. Being a surfing enthusiast, before his flight, he borrowed a 7.0 coffin bag, packed it with his boards, and, along with all his photography equipment, took a flight from Pisa to Malé.
To reach the remote atoll of Athuruga, where the shooting was scheduled, he took a propeller seaplane. Upon reaching the atoll, Filippo spent two weeks working and surfing the surrounding spots. He collaborated with a German researcher who requested underwater pictures of coral life.
The work and surfing experience in the idyllic setting of the Maldives, especially in those remote atolls, proved to be a great adventure.

On the last day, just before boarding the seaplane to return home, a massive monsoon storm hit the harbor, forcing Filippo and a few others to remain stuck on the floating platform for an hour. Afterward, despite the rain and wind, the seaplane captain decided to take off without the coffin bag. Concerned about the weight, he left the bag on the ground to make the plane lighter. The plan was for the bag to be carried by the next flight from Athuruga to Malé.

However, the next flight never departed, leaving Filippo without his boards. Fortunately, a hotel employee retrieved the coffin and stored it in a warehouse on Athuruga.

Back in Italy, Filippo attempted various ways to retrieve the coffin, but shipping a large item like this from a remote atoll to Europe at a reasonable price proved challenging.
Ten months later, Filippo, together with friends, organized a strike mission to recover his items and, of course, surf some waves.
He persuaded the hotel employee to send the bag to Malé. Unfortunately, upon Filippo's arrival at the airport depot, no one wanted to release the baggage as it lacked a depot tag.
After several negotiations, presenting his passport and necessary documents, he finally managed to get hold of the coffin.

Despite spending 10 months in storage and changing hands numerous times, the 7.0 coffin bag was in perfect condition, with the boards well-preserved. However, other items such as wetsuits and t-shirts were completely rotten and moldy.

For the remaining time, Filippo and his friend enjoyed five days of fantastic waves and barrels, as evident in the images.

Small details, big different

We live in the most knowledgeable era in history and must be aware of our actions as surfers and above all, as humans.

That's why sustainability, durability and ethics are the fundamental values of our brand.

We live for these three words, and we fight to create a better planet and improve our playground.
Sometimes paying attention to small details can generate a big difference.

100% Recycled Materials
Using recycled fabric from the beginning was a clear way to go and an easy decision to make.
For us, producing eco-friendly products is not a plus, but is a must. We cannot continue to forge ahead without awareness of the consequences of our actions.
We have to think about our planet and preserve our playground.
That's why with we have introduced another important step for us: 10 year warranty to all products.

Tarpaulin is not allowed
Every decision is followed by a consequence. From our beginning, we have taken a clear path to sustainability and an environmentally friendly way.
Every single stitch, fabric and construction method reflects deep commitment to follow our ethical fundamentals.
Durability is one of our must haves, but also one of the main factors of leading an eco-friendly life.
That's why we decided to ban LDPE webbing tarpaulin in all of our products. This material is commonly used in the surf bag industry in the last 40 years. We are already seeing its effect and believe that over the years it will continue to decompose and flood the environment with micro pieces of plastic.

Durability
Years ago, following our mantra of durability, we planned to protect all products with 10 years of warranty.
After several brainstorming with the team the first big challenge that came out was: how can we check and test quality and durability products?
We did a deep discussion about this point and finally we decided to follow the approach that drives all our design decisions: create a custom strong test that is a mix between analytic data research and human behaviors following our surfer instinct.

Hexagon fabric

We are always focused on details that can improve the performance of our products.

That’s why during the design process of our bags we ask ourselves many questions: first of all how can we improve performance and functionality?
This continuous research allowed us to improve quality standards step by step over the time.

One of the milestone decisions we took is about fabric, for sure the most important part of soft goods. After a deep research and test process we decided to use specific Hexagon fabric, a material created by a hexagon pattern that reinforces the resistance of the material without increasing weight.

The Hexagon fabric is made by 100% recycled polyester, thanks to its hexagon texture it can resist tears for long, it is more resistant to abrasion and to tensions than normal one and due its specific texture is also a performed rip-stop material.

The Hexagon fabric is engineered to improve durability, abrasion resistance and waterproof.

Thanks to these improving features, Hexagon is used in all our surf bags, now surfers can load their board bags fully loaded with any problems.

Relax and enjoy your surf, we take care of your boards.
